| The Sun Bass was
developed by crossing a White Bass with a Striped Bass. The Sun Bass Hybrid Striper has
proven to be a popular sports fish and a good food fish. They can tolerate a wide range of
environmental conditions in temperatures from 25° F. to above 90° F. Sun Bass travel in
schools and frequently break the water while feeding near the surface. The stocking rate is determined by the quality of
natural feed available and the commercial feed program, if one is used. And combination of
Largemouth Bass and Hybrid Sun Bass may be stocked. However, at least 200 bass must be
stocked per 1,000 bream. You may stock more than 200 Sun Bass per 1,000 bream but you must
provide supplemental feeding. Stocking Sun Bass Commercially: When using commercial feed
and aeration, up to 5,000 pounds per acre may be grown. |
